Graduate Accountant

Cornerstone is a leading independent firm of chartered accountants based in Glasgow City Centre.

As part of our annual graduate programme, we are looking to recruit for our summer 2024 intake.

Our training programme offers a great opportunity to develop a career in accountancy and work towards the respected ACCA qualification.

Graduates are given the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies on a varied portfolio of work and clients, benefitting from working alongside experienced professionals, some of whom started with the firm as graduates themselves.

You will enjoy a vibrant office environment and be strong at communicating with people. You will quickly experience challenging work, much of which will be relevant to the ACCA qualifications you will study towards.

The position will initially be offered on a three-year fixed-term contract.

We offer financial and time support towards your ACCA qualification.

We are seeking candidates who have a minimum 2:1 Degree and can demonstrate that they possess:

  • A proactive and analytical approach to problem solving
  • A willingness to embrace challenging work
  • A real interest in business and financial issues
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate with colleagues and clients
  • Outstanding organisational skills

The role is for a trainee so no prior knowledge or experience in bookkeeping or accountancy is required, but you should be able to demonstrate computer literacy and numerical ability.

Tax Graduate

Our training programme offers a great opportunity to develop a career in tax and work towards the respected ATT and CTA qualifications.

Graduates are given the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies on a varied portfolio of work and clients, benefitting from working alongside experienced professionals, some of whom started with the firm as graduates themselves.  You will experience both personal and corporate tax and gain a broad education across all areas of tax.

You will enjoy a vibrant office environment and be strong at communicating with people. You will quickly experience challenging work, much of which will be relevant to the tax qualifications you will study towards.

The position will initially be offered on a three-year fixed-term contract.

We offer financial and time support towards your ATT qualification, with the opportunity to progress to the CTA qualification.

We are seeking candidates who have a minimum 2:1 Degree and can demonstrate that they possess:

Experienced Accountant

Cornerstone is a leading independent firm of chartered accountants based in Glasgow City Centre.

We’re recruiting for an experienced accountant to join our city centre office.

The successful candidate will assume responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients and will join a supportive friendly team.

The role will involve:

  • Being the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients
  • The preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts and various forecasts
  • Overseeing VAT compliance
  • Proactively advising clients on the most appropriate in house software packages
  • Allocating work to and reviewing the work of junior members of the team
  • Taking on ad hoc analysis and project work

Direct client contact will be a feature of the role so candidates should be comfortable with and enjoy this aspect of work.

Experience using IRIS, SAGE and Xero would be beneficial.
